On 21 November 2023, the Government announced the increase to the national minimum wage which will apply from 1 April 2024 onwards.
The increase to the national minimum wage with effect from 1 April 2034 is as follows:-
- Age 21 and over – £11.44 (increase of £1.02)
- Aged 18 to 20 – £8.60 (increase of £1.11)
- Age 16 17 and apprentices - £6.40 (increase of £1.12)
This marks the largest ever cash increase to these rates, and has been prompted by recommendations made by the Low Pay Commission in its report published on 31 March this year.
