This year we are proud to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Glaisyers ETL!
Since we first opened our doors in 1974, we have watched the legal landscape shift significantly; the introduction of era-defining cases, legislation and procedure have transformed how we work, as society’s attitudes to legal issues have also evolved.
From offices in Sale, Chorlton, Longsight and Cheetham Hill conducting public funded work, to the full-service commercial firm that we are today, it’s fair to say that we have adapted with the times. In the past 50 years we have expanded our service offering to markets that would have been incomprehensible in our early days.
Our success over the past five decades can be attributed in part to a number of mergers and acquisitions that have revolutionised our workforce. From Goldstone Casket & Eva to Glickman & Co and then Glaisyers in the 1980’s to more recently, our acquisition by ETL GLOBAL in 2018 with David Jones and Dave Marlor taking over management and creating Glaisyers ETL as you now know it. As a Partner Firm of ETL GLOBAL, we have gained an international reach that has connected our team – and by extension our clients – to accounting and legal industry-leaders around the world.
In 2023 we saw two significant office openings for our firm; the first on Old Hall Street in Liverpool; the second, a relocation of our Manchester office to 3 Hardman Street, Spinningfields. These two moves to prestigious locations across the Northwest are a testament to our ongoing growth and success.
We’re proud to have received and retained Legal 500 recognition for multiple departments and individuals over the years, celebrating the outstanding range of work that we provide on a local, national and international basis, and this, our 50th year, has been no exception to that.
We take great pride in nurturing ambitious local talent, a commitment we have upheld throughout our 50 years. We’re pleased that our Trainee Solicitors, Paralegals, and Apprentices can see their current and future paths reflected in more senior members of our team who have grown their career at Glaisyers ETL.
An example of this being Russell Brown’s appointment as Managing Partner earlier this year. Russell first joined the firm as a Trainee Solicitor in 1996, paving his career in employment law with us, leading the Employment Team and earning the role of Partner, before becoming Managing Partner in January 2024.
Asked about what our firm’s 50th Anniversary means to him, Russell said:

Today, the firm represents the resilience and growth, which has been achieved thanks to the commitment and dedication of those colleagues, past and present, who over the years have provided their services to the firm and its clients.”
From the start of the year and over the coming months, we’re excited to be seizing the opportunity to mark 50 years of legal excellence at Glaisyers ETL. We’re paying tribute to our journey so far and celebrating our industry-leading team of past and present in true Glaisyers ETL style.
